Mannequins
Mannequins contains portraits of mannequins found in situ in cities around the world, and is an ongoing body of work that began in Strasbourg, France in 2007. The silent, often headless or limbless, universally slight representations of the female form that present themselves from behind glass can be by turns ominous, oppressive, lifeless, or strangely life like. Mannequins are representations of women and our bodies that often reduce the suggestion of the female form to little more than a torso, or present an impossibly lean, young, flawless, predominantly white army of plastic ideals for us to measure ourselves against.
